Frothy Monkey

Frothy Monkey opened in 2004 in a 1,200-square-foot bungalow in Nashville's then-transitional 12South neighborhood. Roughly a year and a half later, Ryan Pruitt joined the staff, worked up to General Manager, and in 2011 bought the company with a small group of partners; under that ownership the business grew to four full-service Nashville locations plus outposts in Franklin, Chattanooga, and Birmingham and Homewood, Alabama. In 2015, once in-house coffee volume justified it, the company launched Frothy Monkey Roasting Co. to roast its own beans rather than buy from an outside supplier. Today's leadership team includes Pruitt alongside Chef Chase Ingalls, Marketing and Creative Director Jennifer Sheets, and Operations lead Ryan Moloney. The café positions itself as a genuine all-day spot — "Coffee, Brunch and Dinner Cafe" — open seven days with breakfast through dinner service, wine specials on Wednesdays, and date-night programming on Fridays. What distinguishes Frothy Monkey from a typical multi-location coffeehouse chain is that sequence of milestones: a single 2004 bungalow, a 2011 employee buyout, and a 2015 pivot to in-house roasting, each independently datable rather than folded into vague founding-story language.
