Nisolo

Nashville, USA

What Nisolo is known for

Nashville footwear brand founded 2011 by Patrick Woodyard, built around a company-run shoemaking factory in Trujillo, Peru; that factory (Creatra) shut down and was foreclosed in early 2025, and Nisolo changed ownership.

Nisolo was founded in 2011 by Patrick Woodyard, who met a group of skilled but underemployed shoemakers while working in microfinance in Trujillo, Peru, and built the company around a factory there that Nisolo itself owned and operated - an unusual structure for a fashion brand, intended to guarantee living wages and consistent work for the artisans. The company was based in Nashville. That structure changed in 2024-2025: the Trujillo factory, operating under the name Creatra, paused operations in July 2024, shut down entirely by January 2025, and was placed into foreclosure by lenders after loan defaults. In February 2025, new ownership (Project Bound Inc.) took over the Nisolo brand. Nisolo's website remains active and continues to sell shoes, now emphasizing Leather Working Group certification rather than the original owned-factory narrative.
