What Gahaya Links is known for
Sisters Joy Ndungutse and Janet Nkubana built Gahaya Links into a network of over 4,000 weavers across 52 cooperatives, producing the agaseke peace baskets - each one hand-stitched from bamboo reed, sisal, and sweetgrass in roughly 30,000 individual stitches. The company reports that 80 percent of its weavers now hold bank accounts and 40 percent have gone on to start their own businesses.
