Question Coffee operates as the retail and training face of Sustainable Growers, a social enterprise built on a partnership traced back to 2013, when Bloomberg Philanthropies began investing in training programs that move smallholder farmers further up the coffee value chain. The model is built around women: buying a bag sends a portion of the price directly to the farmer's cooperative, with the remainder reinvested into professional training and trading programs specifically for women coffee farmers, and the company markets the whole operation under the line 'meet the women behind our coffee.' Visitors can go past the retail side into the Coffee Training Academy, either through a two-hour Specialty Coffee Masterclass based in Kigali or a full-day Women-led Farm Trek that runs the route from Kigali to Kayonza, tracing the coffee back toward its source. The Kigali cafe and roastery — the Coffee Centre — has picked up outside recognition too, listed as one of the five must-visit places in the city and holding a 2020 TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Award.
