What Glisshop is known for
French ski/snowboard e-tailer founded 1996 in Clermont-Ferrand, Auvergne, by Frederic and Laurence Morel; moved online in 1999 and now stocks 300+ outdoor-sports brands across Europe.
Glisshop began in 1996 as a single shop in Clermont-Ferrand, in France's Auvergne region, opened by Frederic and Laurence Morel to sell skiing, snowboarding, rollerblading, BMX and hockey gear. In 1999, Frederic Morel took the business online as Glisshop.com, early for French retail e-commerce at the time. The company grew from a small, local, family-run shop into a Europe-wide operation with more than 100 employees. Today Glisshop sells more than 15,000 products from over 300 brands, focused on skis, snowboards, boots and related mountain-sports equipment, still headquartered in Auvergne. It also runs its own outdoor-sports news and culture site, Glisshop.info.
