Good Karma Coffee

Good Karma Coffee has roasted fresh daily out of Karlsruhe since 2013, organizing its catalogue around three roast categories — Bright, Medium, and Dark — that map directly onto flavor profiles the company describes as fruity, fruity-chocolate, and chocolate-spicy, a simpler system than the usual filter-versus-espresso split. The roastery itself, on Elsa-Brändströmstraße, opens to the public only on Fridays from 10am to 6pm and Saturdays from 10am to 1pm, when customers can drink a coffee on-site or pick up an online order paid for in advance. Beyond the core roasts, the company has built out a 'Candyshop' line of unusually sweet, intense single-origin lots treated as their own category rather than folded into the regular range. It has also pushed into byproducts: a Solum Cascara lemonade, made from the dried skin of the coffee cherry — the part of the plant most roasters discard — turns a waste stream into a separate soft drink. A partnership with kAnola, a Karlsruhe granola maker, adds a chocolate-coffee granola built with cocoa and raw cane sugar from Colombia. The shop also stocks brewing hardware, including Comandante hand grinders, positioning Good Karma as much an equipment retailer for home brewers as a roaster in its own right.
