Jeujura

Jeujura's history begins in 1911, when Henri Liégeon founded a small woodworking workshop in Champagnole, a town in France's Jura mountains, initially producing everyday wooden items such as tool handles and folding or deck chairs rather than toys. The business changed direction in 1931 when Liégeon's son, Bernard, took over management and redirected production toward wooden games, toys and construction sets. Drawing inspiration from the Alpine chalets characteristic of the Jura region, Bernard Liégeon developed the brand's own style of wooden building set, releasing the first wooden chalet construction toy in 1941 — the product family that would come to define Jeujura's identity. The company remained family-run into a third generation, which in the 1970s pushed the brand beyond the French domestic market into international sales and broadened the product range further. Jeujura continues to manufacture its wooden construction toys, chalets and games in France, marketed on the strength of both heritage (packaging and collector editions reference the brand's century-plus history) and continued domestic production, at a time when most wooden-toy manufacturing has shifted offshore.
