Paris-based luxury fragrance house launched 2007 by Kilian Hennessy, of the Hennessy cognac family, with ten debut scents; acquired by Estee Lauder in 2016, with Hennessy retained as artistic director.
Kilian Hennessy, a member of the Hennessy cognac dynasty, launched his namesake fragrance house in 2007 after training and working with perfumers at houses including Christian Dior, Paco Rabanne, Alexander McQueen and Giorgio Armani. The brand debuted with ten fragrances built around dualities, organized into five olfactive families. In February 2016, the Estee Lauder Companies acquired By Kilian, adding it to a luxury-fragrance portfolio that also includes Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle, Le Labo and Rodin Olio Lusso; Kilian Hennessy stayed on as artistic director after the sale. The house remains based in Paris.
