What Kobo Furukawaya is known for
Kobo Furukawaya is a one-person workshop producing oroku-gushi, the fine-toothed wooden combs that Yabuhara artisans have cut from minebari birch, boxwood, and isunoki since the Edo period. Craftsman Masao Furuhata's hand-sawing has been shown on NHK's Ippin and Wafu Sohonke, and each comb still takes months of hand-filing to finish.
