What Ksubi is known for

Sydney denim and streetwear label founded in 1999 by surfers Gareth Moody, Dan Single, Paul Wilson and George Gorrow, known for hand-distressed jeans and its box-cross logo. Stores in Paddington and Bondi, Sydney, and in Melbourne.

Ksubi began in 1999 on Sydney's Northern Beaches, started by a group of surfer and DJ friends - Gareth Moody, Dan Single, Paul Wilson and George Gorrow - who were dissatisfied with the denim fits available on the market. Working out of a garage in North Sydney, the group screen-printed their own tees and hand-distressed denim using tools as basic as sandpaper and grinders, developing the axel-grinded, heavily worn finish that became the label's signature. Their first proper collection landed in 2000, and the brand debuted at Mercedes Australian Fashion Week the following year, quickly becoming known for a DIY, rebellious attitude paired with its box-cross logo. The brand today keeps stores in the Sydney beachside suburbs of Bondi and Paddington, plus one in Melbourne.
