Kunst Oase

Kunst Oase is an independent antiques and art gallery located in Munich's Schwabing neighborhood at Hohenzollernstrasse, established in its current form in 1984 by owner Manfred Wambsganss. Wambsganss, originally trained as a freelance artist, took over the basement space to create a gallery for colleagues and has since built it into a comprehensive antiques destination spanning two levels. The street-level shop introduces visitors to paintings, candlesticks, decorative tableware, and ornamental pieces. A sprawling basement—accessible by descending past antique mirrors—holds an extensive inventory of vintage and period furnishings: more mirrors, picture frames, glassware, and collectible porcelain. Hundreds of antique lamps, chandeliers, and elaborate crystal lustres from multiple decades hang from the ceiling, creating a densely layered, visually immersive environment. The shop operates on a self-guided browsing model; Wambsganss, often seated on a corner bench, greets visitors warmly but allows customers to explore at their own pace without sales pressure. The space has become known for its abundance and the feeling of discovery.
