Kyse

Kyse Perfumes is the work of Terri Bozzo, an independent American perfumer whose earlier career was in nutritional science and laboratory research - a background she has described as directly transferable to the exacting measuring and mixing work of fragrance formulation. She founded the brand in 2014, operating out of the Santa Cruz, California area, and named it Kyse as a dedication to her two sons, Kyle and Sean.

Bozzo's fragrances lean gourmand - sweet, dessert- and food-adjacent compositions - though her catalog also includes florals, leathers and woods; she has said she doesn't restrict herself to natural materials or any single style, using whatever ingredients suit a given idea. Her debut release was Sucre et Fleurs, and the line has grown into an extensive small-batch catalog since, sold direct through her own site and carried by niche fragrance retailers such as Luckyscent and the Indie Scent Library. Every bottle is hand-mixed rather than produced at industrial scale, consistent with the broader American indie-perfumery scene Bozzo is part of, where solo perfumers formulate, bottle and often ship orders themselves.
