What Loriblu is known for
Founded in the early 1970s in Porto Sant'Elpidio by Graziano Cuccù, who remains the brand's stylist, this Italian shoemaker built its name on plaited leather-strip sandals before a 1978 sales boom of 110,000 pairs and, in the 1980s, crystal-embellished 'jewel sandals' that led to its 1996 signature 'golden shoe.'
Loriblu was founded in the early 1970s in Porto Sant'Elpidio, in Italy's Marche region, by Graziano Cuccù, who has directed the brand's style and collections since its start and today runs the company with his wife, CEO Annarita Pilotti. The label's early identity was built on a distinctive plaited-leather-strip sandal, and its commercial breakthrough came in 1978, when the company sold 110,000 pairs of shoes. In the 1980s Loriblu developed what it calls the 'jewel sandal,' using rhinestones, crystals and Swarovski stones to bring a more ornamented, evening-wear character to its footwear, a direction that culminated in 1996 with a signature style the company calls the 'golden shoe.' Loriblu still manufactures at its Porto Sant'Elpidio headquarters, which includes a factory and showrooms in a building the company calls the Diamond Palace, continuing to produce men's and women's shoes under Cuccù's ongoing creative direction.
