Sydney

What M.J. Bale is known for

Sydney menswear label founded in 2009 by Matt Jensen (a co-founder of Herringbone), built on Australian merino wool tailoring; its 2017 Kingston line uses single-origin Tasmanian wool woven in Italy and cut into suits in Japan.

M.J. Bale is an Australian menswear label headquartered in Sydney, founded in 2009 by Matt Jensen, who had previously co-founded the tailoring brand Herringbone. The company opened its first store in Woollahra, and by 2010 had placed product into David Jones and Myer department stores nationally. The brand's identity centers on Australian Merino wool, roughly 60 percent of the fibre it uses. In 2017 M.J. Bale introduced its Kingston single-origin suiting collection, sourcing wool from Kingston farm in Tasmania, woven into cloth in Italy before the finished suits are cut and sewn in Japan.
