The brand built its identity around bold, theatrical furniture and lighting design, with Wanders himself among its best-known designers. Its flagship Amsterdam showroom and brand store launched in 2008 in the Jordaan district, on Westerstraat, where it operated for around fourteen years with Wanders' own design studio located directly above; the store later relocated to Utrechtsestraat, still in central Amsterdam. Moooi has since expanded into an internationally distributed brand sold through showrooms, retail partners and its own e-commerce.
