Pherrow's

Tokyo, Japan

What Pherrow's is known for

Founded in 1991 by Masahiro Shimura, who had helped set up The Real McCoy's before striking out on his own with the L-2B flight jacket repro and the Stormy Blue denim line.

Pherrow's was founded in Tokyo in 1991 by Masahiro Shimura, who had been involved in the initial setup of The Real McCoy's, another Japanese heritage workwear brand, before leaving to start his own label under his own creative direction. From its earliest days, Pherrow's built its identity around faithful reproductions of American vintage military and workwear garments; one of its first products was a reproduction of the L-2B nylon flight jacket. The brand also developed its own selvedge denim line, called Stormy Blue, positioning Pherrow's within Japan's broader Ametora movement of American-inspired, historically accurate reproduction clothing. Shimura directed the brand for more than 18 years before stepping back in 2010, handing creative direction to Takashi Ando. Pherrow's remains headquartered in Tokyo and operates its SMART Clothing retail stores directly, with garments and hardware made in Japan by domestic manufacturers rather than sourced overseas.
