What Pretty Ballerinas is known for
Spanish ballet-flat brand from the Mascaro family footwear company, founded in 1918 in Ferreries, Menorca; shoes are still ethically hand-made on the island across four generations of the same family.
Pretty Ballerinas is a line of the Mascaro family footwear company, founded in 1918 in Ferreries, Menorca, originally as a small workshop producing handcrafted ballet slippers. In the 1950s, second-generation Jaime Mascaro turned the workshop into a factory, and the family opened its own retail shops in the 1980s. Sisters Ursula and Lina Mascaro, representing the third generation, took over in the 1990s and expanded the brand internationally. Production remains based in Menorca.
