What Regatta is known for
British outdoor-clothing brand founded 1981, still family-run by third-generation siblings Keith and Joanne Black. Sells waterproofs, fleeces and family hillwalking gear through UK stores, wholesale and export to 55+ countries.
Regatta traces to 1977, when Lionel Black bought Risol Products, a small wholesale supplier of workwear and footwear to army-and-navy shops. He began developing it into the Regatta brand in 1981 and handed the company to his son Keith Black that same year; Keith remains CEO, and his sister Jo Black later joined to lead buying and sustainability work. The brand makes waterproof and breathable jackets, fleeces, trousers, footwear and camping gear aimed at value-conscious families rather than technical mountaineers, and exports to more than 55 countries with its own sales offices across Europe and Asia.
