What Remonte is known for

Remonte is the women's comfort-footwear brand of the Rieker Group, tracing its roots to a shoemaking heritage from 1876; it became part of Rieker, founded 1874 in Tuttlingen, Germany, in 2002 and remains under sixth-generation family ownership, producing cushioned everyday and dress shoes.

Remonte belongs to the Rieker Group, one of Europe's largest shoe manufacturers, headquartered in Tuttlingen in southern Germany near the Swiss border. Rieker itself was founded in 1874 and has stayed in family hands for six generations. The remonte name traces its own shoemaking lineage back to 1876, and the brand was brought under the Rieker umbrella in 2002 to anchor the group's women's comfort-footwear range, sitting alongside Rieker's core men's and women's lines.

Remonte shoes are built around cushioned outsoles, contoured or removable footbeds, and lightweight midsoles intended to reduce foot fatigue over a full day of wear, aimed at customers who want dressier silhouettes — ankle boots, loafers, low pumps — without giving up the ease of a walking shoe. Production draws on Rieker's German and wider European manufacturing network rather than a single atelier.

Today Rieker Group, including remonte, employs roughly 23,000 people worldwide and sells internationally, making it one of the more industrial-scale operations in the atlas rather than a small independent workshop — its distinction is longevity and engineering focus rather than handcraft scale.
