Sahadi's

Sahadi's has been family-owned for more than a century, and its Atlantic Avenue grocery has run since 1948, when the family moved the business to Brooklyn. Today the flagship carries more than 200 bulk bins of roasted nuts, dried fruit and imported olives, plus an "Exclusively Sourced" collection, ancient grains, spices, and housemade pita and hummus. The business now spans several outposts beyond the original store: an Industry City location, a Pier 57 kiosk in Manhattan, and Sahadi Spirits, a bottle shop built around Levantine, family-owned and indigenous-grape wines rather than a general list. Catering has been part of the operation for the full hundred-plus years, and the store now ships nationwide and partners with Mercato, Grubhub and Goldbelly for delivery, alongside occasional live music events at the flagship. It is a grocery that has grown outward from one Brooklyn street rather than franchised outward from a concept - the bulk bins and the wine shop both trace back to the same Atlantic Avenue counter the family opened in 1948, expanded in scale rather than replaced by something newer.
