What Saint-Louis is known for
Saint-Louis has been active as a glassworks in the Moselle forest village of Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche since 1586 and in 1781 became the first crystal-glass manufacturer in continental Europe. Now part of the Hermès group, it still mouth-blows and hand-cuts every piece on-site, from stemware and paperweights to chandeliers.
