SAND Copenhagen was founded in 1981 by husband-and-wife team Soren and Lene Sand, who set out to combine clean, architectural Scandinavian design lines with Italian fabric traditions. The company remains family-owned and family-run, headquartered in Randers, Denmark, with creative direction based in Copenhagen. Much of its design development and garment production takes place in Northern Italy, in the textile-producing area around Como, a pairing the brand presents as its signature identity. SAND Copenhagen now sells through more than 1,200 retailers across 32 countries on six continents.
