What Smith & Deli is known for

Vegan delicatessen opened 2015 in Fitzroy by chef Shannon Martinez, the team behind Smith and Daughters, selling plant-based deli meats, sandwiches, pies and groceries. Relocated in 2021 to 107 Cambridge Street, Collingwood, alongside a rebuilt Smith and Daughters.

Smith and Deli opened on 17 June 2015 at 111 Moor Street in Fitzroy, Melbourne, created by chef Shannon Martinez, who also runs the vegan restaurant Smith and Daughters. The deli built its name on convincing plant-based versions of delicatessen staples - sliced 'meats,' sandwiches, pastries such as spanakopita and lamb-and-rosemary pie, and packaged groceries - aimed at proving vegan food could match the flavor and generosity of a traditional Jewish-style deli. In 2021, Smith and Deli relocated from its original Fitzroy site to a combined venue with Smith and Daughters at 107 Cambridge Street, Collingwood, and the business has since also opened a CBD outpost on Degraves Street. It continues to sell frozen and refrigerated ready meals, cakes, hampers and merchandise, including a published cookbook.
