What Sportalm is known for
Austrian ski-fashion house headquartered in Kitzbühel, founded in 1953 as a knitting mill; the Ehrlich family-run label added its first dedicated ski collection in 1973 and today produces Alpine performance wear alongside Tracht-inspired pieces.
Sportalm traces its roots to 1953, when it began as a small knitting mill in Kitzbühel producing traditional Austrian Tracht - dirndls and other folk costume. The Ehrlich family took control of the company in the 1980s and remains in charge today, with headquarters still in Kitzbühel. In the 1970s, partner Franz Kneissl helped steer the label toward ski fashion, and Sportalm introduced its first dedicated ski collection in 1973, building a reputation in Alpine performance wear that now sits alongside its heritage Tracht lines.
