What Stylein is known for
Stockholm minimalist womenswear label founded in 2001 by designer Elin Alemdar, who launched her first hand-tailored collection while studying at New York's Fashion Institute of Technology before relocating the brand to Sweden in 2003.
Stylein began in New York City in 2001, when Swedish designer Elin Alemdar - then a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology and working as a stylist - produced her first hand-tailored collection. She returned to Sweden in 2003, and the label operated out of Gothenburg until 2009, when it relocated to Stockholm. Alemdar has built Stylein around a consistently minimalist aesthetic: clean silhouettes, considered tailoring and a restrained Scandinavian palette, rather than seasonal reinvention. Now more than two decades old, the brand remains closely tied to Alemdar's own design hand as founder, chief designer and CEO, and is sold through its own channels as well as multibrand retailers such as Stockholm's Sturegallerian.
