Independent vinyl record shop opened in Dubai's Alserkal Avenue in May 2017 by DJ and producer Shadi Megallaa; stocks new and secondhand electronic, jazz, hip-hop, soul and reggae records and runs a DJ course on-site.
The Flip Side opened in May 2017 in Unit 71 of Alserkal Avenue, Dubai's converted-warehouse arts district in Al Quoz, founded by Egyptian DJ and producer Shadi Megallaa. Megallaa, who also runs the Ark to Ashes record label, had worked at a record shop in New York and opened the shop to fill a gap in vinyl retail in the UAE. The store stocks a genre span from electronic to jazz, hip-hop, rock, soul and reggae, mixing new pressings with used stock. Beyond retail, The Flip Side runs an 'Art of DJing' course and hosts in-store events.
