The Pancake Bakery

The Pancake Bakery occupies a 17th-century former warehouse at Prinsengracht 191, on one of Amsterdam's best-known canals in the Jordaan neighborhood. The restaurant has built its reputation over four decades on a single format executed well: large, thin Dutch pancakes served with both savoury toppings, such as bacon and cheese, and sweet ones, such as fruit and syrup. The building's exposed beams and canal-side setting give it a warmer, more historic feel than the tourist-strip crepe stands nearby, and it runs a full daily schedule from breakfast through dinner, with an open kitchen and a summer terrace overlooking the water.
