What Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre is known for
Started on 2 October 1959 to resettle Tibetans who followed the Dalai Lama into exile, this Darjeeling centre still hand-knots wool carpets and carves wooden tables, frames and prayer wheels. Its shop sells thangkas, wall hangings and bronze and copper pieces, with production exported to dozens of countries.
