Okayti's tea gardens near Mirik date to the early 1870s, one of the older plantings in the Darjeeling hills, and now spread across roughly 1,600 acres between 4,000 and 6,200 feet, ringed by pine forest with clear views of the Himalayan range on a good day. The estate is certified organic, and its shop sells direct from the garden rather than through a broker or blender, with distinct lots for First Flush, Second Flush and Autumn Flush picked and processed separately by season. The estate's reputation rests chiefly on its muscatel-grade second flush, the grape-like sweetness prized in top Darjeeling black teas and a character Okayti markets under names like Muscatel Spirit and Signature Muscatel as identifiably its own single-estate style rather than a generic Darjeeling label. Beyond the black-tea core, the range extends to green, white and oolong teas and seasonal specialty lots, all grown and processed on site.
