What Tramontano is known for

Neapolitan leather house founded 1865 on Via Chiaia, originally a shop for fabric, buttons and trimmings; grew into a leather-craft maison from the 1950s under Aldo Tramontano, with clients later including Pavarotti and Woody Allen.

Tramontano's history began in 1865 with a small shop in central Naples selling fabrics, buttons, and trimmings, on what remains the company's Via Chiaia address today. The business shifted toward leather goods, luggage, and made-to-order shoes, and from the 1950s, founder Francesco's son Aldo Tramontano developed the leather-crafting side into what the company describes as a real school of high craftsmanship, working in the techniques of the Neapolitan artisan tradition. Over generations Tramontano built a clientele that reportedly included figures such as Woody Allen, Hillary Clinton, Luciano Pavarotti, and Lucio Dalla. The company continues to design and produce bags, luggage, and leather accessories using natural materials, and has more recently pursued expansion beyond Naples, including a presence in Milan, while its historic Via Chiaia store remains its headquarters.
