Her defining concept, which she calls 'dessous-dessus' (roughly, 'underwear as outerwear'), treats lingerie pieces — mainly in silk and lace — as garments that can be worn visibly rather than only underneath other clothing.
The brand gained international attention early, including notice from the Tokyo-based retailer Takashimaya in New York. In 1999, Vesperini was named best creator of the year by the International Lingerie Salon in Paris, and the following year she opened her first standalone Paris boutique.
