Waste Yarn Project

Waste Yarn Project is a knitwear label built around surplus yarn discarded by the fashion industry - stock too limited for a full production run, no longer matching a season's palette, or otherwise judged uneconomical to reuse. According to trade coverage, the brand was founded by Siri Johansen, a designer with roughly a decade of industry experience including work with Burberry and Kenzo; the label originated in Paris before Johansen opened a small store in Oslo. Each garment is knitted from whatever combination of leftover yarns and colors happens to be available at the time, so no two pieces are identical, and every finished garment is numbered to reflect that individuality. The approach positions the brand within circular-fashion manufacturing, converting a byproduct that would otherwise go to landfill into a finished product.
