What Altan Bottier is known for
Paris bespoke and ready-to-wear bootmaker founded 1973 by Turkish-trained shoemaker Sukru Sensozlu; known for its hand-applied patina service (offered since 2003) from a boutique at 11 rue Lincoln.
Altan Bottier was founded in Paris in 1973 by Sukru Sensozlu, who began training as a bootmaker in Konya, Turkey, from age eleven before continuing his apprenticeship in Paris. The house was bespoke-only for men and women until 1998, when it launched its first ready-to-wear collection; it is named for Sensozlu's son Altan, born the same year the company was founded. In 2003 Altan Bottier introduced a complimentary custom patina service on ready-to-wear shoes, which became a signature draw for Parisian shoe collectors. The brand maintains a boutique at 11 rue Lincoln in Paris's 8th arrondissement, opened in 2012.
