What Archive 18-20 is known for
Archive 18-20 is a concept store in Paris's Marais district, opened by designer Séverine Lahyani in 2015 inside a former workshop. It mixes menswear labels like Comme des Garçons with design objects, vintage pieces, and an on-site restaurant.
Archive 18-20 takes its name from its address — 18-20 rue des Archives, in the heart of Paris's Marais district — and its scope from the ambitions of its founder. Séverine Lahyani, the designer behind the menswear label Ly Adams, opened the concept store in 2015 inside a former workshop, keeping the space's industrial glass-and-brick shell rather than dressing it up.
Walk the corridor into the shop and the mix is deliberate: Comme des Garçons shirts sit alongside more accessible labels like YMC, Aimé Leon Doré sweatshirts, Veja and Converse sneakers, and a Raf Simons x Adidas collaboration. The store folds in vintage pop-ups (Brut Clothing), design objects such as Daniel Gallo lamps, international magazines like Dazed and i-D, candles, perfumes, and spirits — a single-address version of the multi-category concept-store model. On-site restaurant Le Comptoir adds thirty covers serving bowls, smoothie bowls, and fresh-pressed vegetable juices alongside the shopping.
It's a format built around contrast rather than a single aesthetic: new labels next to archival pieces, fashion next to furniture, retail next to a lunch counter — which is what keeps it grouped with the Marais's other genre-blurring addresses rather than filed as a straightforward clothing shop.
