What Ashi is known for

Founded in 2007 by Saudi couturier Mohammed Ashi, trained at Esmod Paris and at Givenchy and Elie Saab; in 2023 he became the first Gulf designer on the official Paris Haute Couture calendar — sculptural gowns built like monuments to a single evening.

Ashi Studio was founded in 2007 by Mohammed Ashi, a Saudi designer trained at Esmod Paris (class of 2004) and seasoned at Givenchy and Elie Saab before striking out alone. He launched in Saudi Arabia and moved the atelier to Paris roughly eleven years later — and in 2023 crossed a line no Gulf designer had crossed: admission to the Fédération de la Haute Couture as a guest member, a couture house from the Gulf operating on the official Paris calendar.

The work explains the admission. Ashi builds sculptural, structured silhouettes — gowns closer to monuments than dresses, engineered drama for a single evening — and the clients arrived accordingly: Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Zendaya, Queen Rania of Jordan. In 2024 Forbes named him among its fashion innovators, and Saudi Arabia's Fashion Commission appointed him a mentor for the generation behind him.

The atelier now shows couture in Paris season after season — a rare thing twice over: a new house admitted to fashion's most closed room, and a Gulf founder holding the door open behind him.
