Bergzeit was founded in 1999 in the Bavarian Alps, starting as a small online touring portal before growing into an outdoor-equipment retailer carrying roughly 40,000 items from more than 500 brands. The company is headquartered in Otterfing, near the Tegernsee valley, and opened its first physical store in Holzkirchen/Grosshartpenning in 2003, followed by a second location in Gmund/Moosrain in 2010. Over more than two decades the business has stayed rooted in that same alpine region even as its retail operation scaled into an internationally shipping online store.
