Blaest was founded in Bergen, on Norway's rain-heavy western coast, in 2005 by designer Lisbeth Lillebøe, who set out to make rainwear that let wearers stay dry without sacrificing style. The company later relocated to Alesund, an Art Nouveau-era coastal town with a similarly wet, windy climate. The brand's name is the Norwegian word for a gust or strong gale, reflecting its design philosophy around technical, functional waterproof outerwear. Blaest's products are distributed internationally through boutiques in markets including Australia, Canada, and the Netherlands.
