BooKu

BooKu runs a physical secondhand bookstore inside GMBB, the creative-community mall on Jalan Robertson in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, open daily from 11am to 8pm. The shop sells preloved books across English, Chinese, and Malay titles, organized into genre sections that range from literary fiction and fantasy to business, psychology, and children's categories, alongside a section for older secondhand stock in Chinese literature, feng shui, and general non-fiction. Beyond retail, BooKu operates a donation and buy-back program for readers across West Malaysia, accepting anything from a handful of books to bulk lots of a hundred or more, with some exclusions such as textbooks and religious texts. A separate warehouse in Cheras, Selangor, handles this intake alongside the storefront. BooKu also runs an editorial side to the business: a submissions platform for book and film reviews, plus recurring columns from a small roster of contributing writers, positioning the store as a reading-culture hub rather than a pure retailer. The result is a secondhand bookshop that functions simultaneously as a community drop-off point, an online marketplace, and a small publishing outlet for reader-submitted reviews, run out of a single Kuala Lumpur storefront rather than a chain.
