What Caffè Cagliari is known for

Caffè Cagliari has roasted coffee under one family's direction since Ambrogio Cagliari's 1895 Brazil sourcing trip and its 1909 Modena shop. It roasts origins separately, selling beans, ground coffee and capsules through its own shop.

Caffè Cagliari's history begins in 1895, when Ambrogio Cagliari traveled to Brazil to source coffee directly at origin -- a starting point the company still cites on its own site. The family opened its first Modena shop in 1909, and the business has stayed under the same family's direction ever since, now spanning more than a century of continuous ownership.

The roastery's defining technique is separating rather than blending at the point of roasting: origins are selected and roasted individually -- "selezione delle origini e la tostatura separata" -- before being combined into finished blends, a method the company treats as central to its identity rather than a footnote. That approach carries through its current range, from the professional-grade HQ (Alta Qualità) line aimed at bars and restaurants to its Miscele in Grani whole-bean blends, Capsule Sistema 10+ pods, and ground coffees formulated separately for moka pot and espresso machine preparation.

Based on Via Emilia Est in Modena, Caffè Cagliari sells directly through its own online shop alongside its wholesale bar-and-restaurant business -- the same split between professional and home markets that has defined the company since Ambrogio Cagliari's original Brazil sourcing trip.
