Caffè Terzi

Caffè Terzi sits on Via Oberdan, on a stretch of central Bologna whose café history runs back over a century — the same block once held the city's old fiaschetteria, a wine-and-spirits shop, near what's now the Hotel Corona d'Oro. Founder Manuel Terzi built the café around a bean-to-cup philosophy, tracing coffee from source through roast to the cup in front of the customer rather than treating the drink as a finished product on arrival.

That philosophy extends into instruction: Terzi runs courses on how to brew coffee properly across multiple traditional methods, including moka pot and Napoletana flip-pot brewing, aimed at correcting the rushed, over-extracted espresso habits common in Italian bars. The site runs in Italian, English, and Bolognese dialect — a small detail, but one that signals how much of the shop's identity is tied to teaching Emilia-Romagna, and visitors, how the region is supposed to drink its coffee.
