What Callaghan is known for

Spanish footwear brand launched in 1987 by Arnedo's Grupo Hergar (founded 1968); introduced the first air-chamber sailing shoe in 1991 and its Adaptaction foot-adaptive sole system in 2004.

Callaghan is a Spanish shoe brand from Arnedo, in La Rioja, created in 1987 by Grupo Hergar - a footwear group founded in 1968 by Basilio Garcia Perez-Aradros, which had earlier launched the hunting-boot-inspired Tanke brand in 1978. Callaghan began with cowboy-influenced styles, then in 1991 introduced the 'Nautico Over,' described as the first sailing shoe on the market with patented air-chamber cushioning, which helped establish the brand as a leader in Spain's boat-shoe segment. Its most significant technical development came in 2004 with the Callaghan Adaptaction System, sole and upper construction engineered to flex and adapt to different foot shapes. Callaghan has since grown into an internationally distributed brand, sold in more than 30 countries.
