What Softinos is known for
Softinos launched in 2006 as an in-house label of Portugal's Kyaia group, the family company that bought Fly London in 1994 and, after acquiring the Foreva/Sapatália retail chain in 2005, created Softinos as its own soft-leather comfort-shoe brand.
Softinos is a Portuguese footwear brand created within the Kyaia group, the same company behind the internationally known Fly London label. Kyaia's connection to footwear retail dates to 1994, when Fortunato Frederico acquired Fly London at an international trade fair, after a falling-out between the brand's two original English partners left its stand unattended at a Dusseldorf trade show. Kyaia built up Fly London slowly - selling only 1,800 pairs in the brand's first year under new ownership - before establishing significant Portuguese manufacturing scale; by 2013 the group was producing around 800,000 pairs annually at its Portuguese factory. In 2005, Kyaia purchased the Foreva/Sapatalia chain of Portuguese shoe stores, and a year later, in 2006, developed and launched Softinos as its own footwear brand built around soft-leather, comfort-focused design.
