Celio

Paris

What Celio is known for

French menswear chain founded in Paris in 1985 by Marc and Laurent Grosman; grew from five Paris shops to over 1,000 stores across roughly 70 countries selling accessible casual and sportswear-influenced clothing.

Celio was founded in 1985 by brothers Marc and Laurent Grosman, opening with a self-service retail model that was unusual for menswear at the time and drawing on sportswear for its early collections. By the end of its founding year the chain already had five stores, all in Paris. Expansion followed quickly: Celio's first mall location opened in Bordeaux in 1986, the French store count passed 34 by 1989 and topped 100 in the early 1990s. International growth began with a Beirut franchise in 1993, followed by openings in Belgium, Spain, Portugal (1994) and Italy (1999). In 1996 the brand opened a roughly 1,000 sqm flagship opposite the Opera Garnier in Paris. Celio has since grown into one of the larger French menswear retail groups, now operating more than 1,000 stores across about 70 countries.
