What Creo Chocolate is known for

Portland, Oregon bean-to-bar chocolate maker founded in 2014 by the Straub family; sources cacao from a single Ecuador farm and runs tasting/factory-tour shops in Northwest and Northeast Portland, including a new lab on NE Farragut.

Creo Chocolate was founded in 2014 by Tim and Janet Straub and their son Kevin, former berry farmers who sold the family farm to move into bean-to-bar chocolate making full time. The company sources cacao directly from Hacienda Victoria, a single farm in Ecuador, and has won more than 100 industry awards from organizations including the Academy of Chocolate and the Good Food Foundation. Creo runs hands-on factory tours where visitors make their own chocolate bar. As of 2025, Creo operates shops at 629 NW 23rd Avenue and 122 NE Broadway in Portland, and opened a renovated chocolate lab and tasting space at 100 NE Farragut Street in September 2025.
