What Tanner Goods is known for

Portland, Oregon leather-goods label founded in 2006 by Sam Huff and Matt Perusich, who began hand-making belts and wallets; the line has since expanded to include internationally-made pieces.

Tanner Goods was founded in 2006 in Portland, Oregon, by Sam Huff and Matt Perusich, who met in 1998 while working together at a resort in their shared hometown of Sisters, Oregon. They began making natural vegetable-tanned leather belts and bifold wallets by hand in a small workroom behind their first NW Portland retail space. Over roughly a decade the company grew from that 150-square-foot room into a 10,000-square-foot workshop and office with around 35 staff, retail locations in Portland and Los Angeles, and wholesale distribution across roughly 80 markets in North America and another 80 across Europe, Australia, Japan and South Korea. While Tanner built its name on goods made in the USA, the company has since also worked with makers abroad for specific lines, including leather bags produced in Leon, Mexico, and footwear made in Helsinki, Finland.
