What CzipLee is known for

Family-run Malaysian stationery and art-supply chain, founded 1968 by Peter Chen as a Kajang sundry shop. His sons Alvin and Jason Chen opened the Bangsar branch in the early 2000s, bringing in imported brands like Rhodia, Midori and Clairefontaine.

CzipLee began in 1968 as a small sundry shop in Kajang, Selangor, started by Peter Chen with capital borrowed from his mother; the shop initially sold candy, newspapers and a limited stationery selection before Chen leaned into the growing demand from students and parents, moving to a larger Kajang premises in 1973. The Kajang store eventually grew to occupy four shop lots. In the early 2000s, Peter's sons Alvin and Jason Chen led an expansion into Kuala Lumpur's Bangsar neighborhood, opening a store aimed at a different, design-conscious customer base and stocking imported brands such as Rhodia, Clairefontaine, Midori and Kokuyo alongside art supplies, craft materials and a children's line called CzipKid. The family business, now trading past its 55th year, operates as CzipLee Retail Sdn Bhd, runs a loyalty programme (CzipFam) and print service (CzipPrint), and sells through both its Bangsar and other Malaysian branches and its e-commerce platform.
