What Dayglow Coffee is known for

Tohm Ifergan opened this shop in Silver Lake in 2017 as all-pink 'Neon,' then rebranded to Dayglow's iridescent, holographic look soon after. It rotates in guest roasters from around the world.

Tohm Ifergan, a former touring drummer who'd worked behind the bar at Portola Coffee's experimental Theorem program, opened his own shop with cousin Philippe in 2017. It launched under a different name — Neon, with an all-pink identity — before the pair were forced to rebrand shortly after opening.

The replacement, Dayglow, came out of that rebrand: a friend's branding studio built the new identity around iridescence and holographic foil rather than a flat color, turning a forced name change into a more distinctive visual identity than the original. The shop kept the color-forward instinct of "Neon" but translated it into something less easily trademarked.

Dayglow operates as what its founders call a "maximalist multi-roaster" — rather than roasting its own beans, it curates and rotates coffee from outside roasters, pairing them with cocktail-style drinks named after movies. That curation model, more than a single house roast, is the shop's identifying feature, and it's since expanded from its original Los Angeles location to additional outposts, including one in Chicago.

Best for — Tohm Ifergan's multi-roaster shop, rebranded from all-pink 'Neon' into iridescent Dayglow.
