What Devernois is known for

French knitwear house founded in 1927 in Roanne by Claudius Devernois under the brand name Sionreved; still family-run under his granddaughter Severine Brun, garments made in the original Roanne workshops.

Devernois was founded in 1927 by Claudius Devernois in the Goutte-Marcellin district of Roanne, France, initially operating under the brand name Sionreved - an anagram of Devernois - with a workshop of just three employees producing men's jacquard knitwear. Five years later the operation moved to larger premises in nearby Le Coteau as production grew and industrialized, and the house shifted its focus to high-end women's knitwear. Roanne is described in French textile histories as a historic center of the French knitwear industry. The company has stayed in the founding family for three generations: Claudius Devernois' granddaughter, Severine Brun, took over the house in 2005 alongside her husband Thierry Brun.
