Duck Duck Coffee Roasters was founded by Jean-Francois, known as JF, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. His interest in roasting began in the fall of 2020, and he launched Duck Duck Coffee Roasters the following year, 2021. The playful name is a nod to the children's game duck-duck-goose, chosen deliberately to signal an approachable, unintimidating take on specialty coffee rather than a more austere or technical brand identity. The company roasts on a 3-kilogram capacity machine officially named the Valenta 7 but nicknamed 'the Quackenator' in keeping with the brand's tone, working with rotating single-origin lots roasted in small batches. What began as a single Fredericton operation has since expanded to a second location in Saint John, New Brunswick, extending the brand along the province's south coast. Beans are roasted in-house and served on site as both espresso and filter coffee, alongside retail bags for home brewing. The company maintains an active social media presence across Instagram, Facebook and TikTok under the Duck Duck Coffee Roasters name, which it uses to document roasting and promote its two-city presence in Fredericton and Saint John.
