What Eleuteri Gioielli Antichi is known for
Rome vintage-jewelry house that grew out of an 1894 cafe near Piazza di Spagna; Pietro Eleuteri turned it into an antiques shop in 1963, and his son Carlo built it into Italy's leading dealer in antique and vintage jewelry, headquartered on Via Condotti.
Eleuteri's Rome address at Via Condotti 79 has a history that predates jewelry: in 1894 an elegant cafe opened at nearby Via del Gambero 7. The shift to jewelry came in 1963, when Pietro Eleuteri, a collector with a passion for ancient art, opened an antiques shop on the site. His son Carlo went on to specialize in vintage and antique jewelry, building what is now widely regarded as Italy's foremost destination for the category. Eleuteri has since expanded with boutiques in Milan, Venice, Cortina, Porto Cervo, St. Moritz and New York, and has lent pieces to institutional exhibitions including the Royal Academy of Arts in London and the Musee d'Orsay in Paris.
